| Seaside Hotels celebrated the 50th anniversary of Maspalomas on Gran Canaria, the island where three of the hotels belonging to the Seaside Hotel chain are situated. This anniversary commemorates the founding of Maspalomas – Costa Canaria as a tourist destination in the south of the island. With this at the forefront, a variety of cultural, sports and recreational activities will be taking place in the local community throughout the year.
A major recognition of the success of Maspalomas as a tourist destination is that it was chosen to celebrate for the first time ever in Spain the “World Tourism Day”, this emblematic location is also home to the Seaside Grand Hotel Residencia*****GL and the Seaside Palm Beach*****, both are situated alongside the famous sand-dunes of Maspalomas; and the nearby Seaside Sandy Beach which is situated in Playa del Inglés a short walk away from the extensive golden sand beach.
The theme of this event was "Tourism and Sustainable Energy: Powering Sustainable Development" and took place on the 27th of September 2012. This major international event was followed by an event to commemorate when the first stone was placed marking the beginning of the urban development of Maspalomas Costa Canaria on the 15th October 1962.
